Director of Sports Medicine

Dr. Nick Copeli joins us as a Board-Certified specialist in Emergency Medicine and non-operative Sports Medicine, with extensive training in noninvasive orthopedic and spine interventions. He has extensive expertise in the use of ultrasound and fluroscopy for managing musculoskeletal issues.
In addition to launching a comprehensive emergency ultrasound program at a large three-hospital system in Los Angeles, Dr. Copeli pioneered the use of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks in the emergency room for both pain relief and as a substitute for intravenous anesthesia for many emergent orthopedic procedures. He has lectured and taught domestically and internationally on this topic.
After working several years as a successful attending emergency department physician, assistant medical director and ultrasound director, Dr. Copeli went on to complete Sports Medicine fellowship at North Shore University Hospital, where he greatly expanded his ultrasound and fluroscopy skills to diagnose and treat orthopedic issues. Dr. Copeli has regularly used regenerative medicines for years to help many patients naturally heal injuries and avoid surgeries. He remains a faculty member of the Sports Medicine fellowship at North Shore University Hospital.
Dr. Copeli currently serves as team physician consultant for the NY Islanders professional hockey team, USA Boxing and several mixed martial arts promotions. Dr. Copeli was former head team physician for Whitter College, serving Division III teams in water polo, soccer, track, baseball, volleyball and basketball. Dr. Copeli has previously served as a physician consultant for the NBA G-league, United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, International Maccabi games, New York Marathon and IronMan competitions.
