Long COVID

Treatments designed to reduce inflammation, regulate immunity, following Long COVID.

We are still learning about the ways COVID affects the body, but one aspect of the virus is fairly uncontested: Long COVID is real. A July 2022 study published by the CDC showed that 1 in 5 Americans who had COVID still have Long COVID symptoms.

Most lingering symptoms are signs of either inflammation in the brain, lack of blood flow, immune dysregulation, sympathetic nervous system dysfunction, or cellular dysfunction. Long COVID treatments can help to restore function and balance across the immune system, nervous system, respiratory system, and more.

Common Long COVID Symptoms

Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB)

SGB is an anesthetic injection administered into the Stellate Ganglion nerve cluster in the neck for the purpose of resetting the sympathetic nervous system. Some of the most common Long COVID symptoms like fatigue, oxygen deficiency, and brain fog are related to nervous system dysfunction. By bringing the nervous system down from a heightened fight-or-flight state, SGBs can restore pre-COVID function and rapidly alleviate symptoms.

Methylene Blue

Methylene Blue is a compound that has proved especially effective at supporting the transportation of oxygen throughout the body by targeting mitochondrial dysfunction. Emerging research suggests that Methylene Blue may have neuroprotective effects, including: mitigating oxidative stress, increasing blood flow to the brain, and reducing inflammation and cellular death. Methylene blue can be administered via IV infusion or orally.

Ozone Dialysis EBOO

Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO) is a form of ozone therapy known for its efficacy in combating inflammatory conditions and autoimmune disorders. An EBOO procedure uses dialysis filters to essentially clean out germs and toxins from a patient’s bloodstream. Blood is drawn from a patient’s vein, and ozonated in a contained and sterile chamber before being reintroduced into the bloodstream via a separate vein.

Peptide Therapy

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that influence major biological processes, but our natural stores decrease over time. Peptide therapy reinforces our natural supply to regulate biological processes.

Peptides are offered two ways: via in-office infusions or via take-home self-administered injections.
Here are some of the peptides we offer to mitigate Long COVID symptoms:

NAD+ Infusion

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD+, is a coenzyme that influences some of the most vital processes in the body, including metabolizing food into energy and regulating cellular processes, like DNA repair and immune system functioning. It acts as a helper molecule throughout the cellular respiration process, resulting in the production of our cell’s most viable energy currency, Adenosine Triphosphate. Infusions restore depleted NAD+ levels and combat inflammation and impaired insulin signaling.

Exosome Infusions

Research suggests that exosome therapy is a powerful antidote to inflammation. Exosome infusions are also being studied for their potential to enhance respiratory function and oxygen saturation for anyone struggling with Long-COVID breathing complications.
*As of right now, exosome infusions are currently being studied and administered for research purposes.

Hudson Health Long COVID Research

Under the guidance of Hudson Health founder Dr. Jonathann Kuo, MD the Hudson Health team is actively involved in several studies focused on novel treatments for Long COVID symptoms. Dr. Kuo has co-authored numerous publications on the use of NAD+ and exosomes as potential Long COVID-19 treatments and is currently involved in clinical research investigating the therapeutic application of Dual Sympathetic Blocks for Long-COVID 19 management.
